Meaning and Background[]
"This is a song I wrote when I was dating a guy who wasn't exactly the popular choice. His situation was a little complicated, but I didn't care. I started this song with the line "This love is difficult, but it's real." When I wrote the ending to this song, I felt like it was the ending every girl wants to go with her love story. It's the ending that I want. You want a guy who doesn't care what anyone thinks, what anyone says. He just says, "Marry me, Juliet, I love you, and that's all I really know." It's sort of told in a character kind of thing, where it's Romeo and Juliet, and it's not me saying that I'm getting married or anything... but I think it's fun to write about it."

Storyline
The video starts out at a university. Taylor is walking on campus and sees a guy sitting underneath a tree, reading a book. They make eye contact, and Taylor starts to imagine herself being in a castle in a gown, singing from a balcony. The next shot shows her at a ball. The guy enters the room and walks up to Taylor, who's talking with two other women. They become dancing partners during the ballroom dance. Afterwards, the guy whispers something in Taylor's ear and she leaves the room. Next, Taylor walks through the garden with a latern at night. Here, she meets the guy and they walk together, holding hands. They eventually part ways. When Taylor is standing on the balcony, she sees the guy running towards the castle. She comes downstairs and they run towards each other. Back to reality, at the campus, the guy walks towards Taylor and they smile at each other.
Trivia
- Taylor learned the ballroom choreography 15 minutes before filming.
