I Wish You Would is the seventh track of Taylor's fifth album 1989. It was released on October 27, 2014.

Meaning and Background

When Jack Antonoff made the track and played it for Taylor, Taylor could immediately hear the finished song in her head. She asked him if she could have it. She wrote the lyrics while on tour and recorded it on her phone. She sent this to Jack and told him that the song is about a guy driving past his ex-girlfriends house who thinks she hates him, when in reality she still loves him. She also told Rolling Stone that the song is about an ex who bought a house two blocks away from her (implied to be Harry Styles).
