Announcement
Taylor Swift announced the album and tracklist on her social media on December 10, 2020, a day before the album release. Taylor called it folklore's sister album. She said that they couldn't stop writing songs of this genre as she loved the escapism she found in writing them. She also said she wanted to surprise her fans shortly before her 31st birthday, which she was excited about because it's her lucky number backwards.[1]
